The Software Development Office at Cyprus International University (CIU) is a dedicated team responsible for the development, management, and ongoing improvement of more than 30 digital systems across the university. Our team works closely with departments to design and implement software solutions that streamline academic and administrative processes, ensuring that every user from students to faculty, staff, and global partners has access to reliable, efficient, and user-friendly systems.

As a key unit of CIU, we are committed to not only maintaining the core systems that support the daily functions of the university, but also innovating new solutions to meet emerging needs. Student Information System (SIS)

SIS is a web-based system which allows students of CIU to monitor their academic progress, grades, courses and other academic information. SIS offers a number of features that academics and students can use for various purposes. Some of these features are ;

 

Academic Staff

  • University academics can create exams for student assessment purposes.
  • Academics can keep course content up to date and provide students with the latest information.
  • University academics can take and track attendance to assess student participation.
  • University academics can approve courses selected by students during term registration when acting as an advisor.
  • Academics can manage and list the postgraduate juries of students assigned to them.
  • Academics can measure student success in the courses they have taken using the Accreditation module.

Student

  • Students can register for new courses or withdraw from the courses they are enrolled in. They can request additional courses or apply for withdrawal from a course. They can access course and exam schedules.

  • Students can view their exam results, homework grades and other academic achievements.

  • Students can communicate with their academic counselors.

  • Students can access their transcripts, student documents and other academic documents.

  • Students can make dormitory preferences and meal package preferences in the dormitory, and make dormitory applications.

  • Students can become a member of clubs within the university.

  • Students can calculate their grades with the CGPA Calculator.

  • Students can calculate their university fees and pay them online.

  • Students can write petitions to units such as Accounting, Registrar's Office, etc. and follow their petitions.

Human Resorce (HR)

The CIU Human Resources system (HR) provides a comprehensive, user-friendly platform for managing core HR tasks and streamlining processes across various departments. The system is designed to optimize administrative efficiency while providing seamless access to critical resources. Below is a detailed overview of its key features:

  1. Profile and Document Management:
    • The Profile Page displays all staff information, allowing HR managers and staff to access and update details when necessary.
    • The Staff Document Page enables document management with upload and delete functions, ensuring all necessary files are stored securely.
  2. Leave and Attendance Management:
    • The Leave Management Module allows employees to view their leave balances and submit requests for approval directly through the system.
    • The PACS Module (Physical Access Control System) helps to efficiently monitor attendance by providing a real-time overview of check-in and check-out times for staff.
  3. Recruitment and Communication:
    • The Job Postings Management Page streamlines the recruitment process by making it easy to create, post and manage open positions.
    • A Phonebook feature provides quick access to staff office numbers, extensions and email addresses for easy communication.
  4. Report Management:
    • The app includes various report sections such as“Academic staff”,“Part-time staff”, “Representative list”, “Pending approval ‘ and’Leave report” to help HR effectively track and manage workforce data.
  5. Academic Information Management:
    • The Academic Information Page allows academic staff to update and maintain their professional profile by providing detailed sections such as “Academic Profile”, “Awards”, “Education”, “Research Area”, “Projects”, “Thesis ‘ and ’Administrative Duties ”.
  6. Academic Development Management:
    • A dedicated Academic Development Management Page supports continuous improvement and performance reviews, giving staff access to the tools they need for ongoing professional development.
  7. Shuttle Management:
    • The Shuttle Management Module includes pages for managing shuttle routes, route types, stops, departures and vehicle assignments.
    • Features include Route Stops Management and Route Locations Management to efficiently plan and track transportation logistics for staff and students.
  8. Excellence Awards Application:
    • The application includes a module for managing Teaching and Business Excellence Awards, which focus on recognizing the outstanding contributions of staff.
Student Recruitment System (SRS)

The Student Admission System is a comprehensive software developed to organize and manage the university's student admission processes more effectively. By digitizing all stages, from student registrations to the tracking of application processes, the system makes admissions faster, more transparent, and more efficient. The system offers the following features:

  • Agency Management Page: Used to oversee recruitment agencies.
  • Application Management Page: Designed for tracking student applications.
  • New Candidate Registration Page: Simplifies the registration process for new student candidates.
  • Promotional Materials Management Page: Manages promotional materials.
  • TTO Representative Management Page: Used for managing technology transfer representatives.
  • Academic Staff Management Page: Allows the management of academic personnel.
  • Interviews Management Page: Facilitates the tracking of interview processes.

Dormitory Information System (DIS)

The Dormitory Information System (DIS) is a powerful tool for managing dormitories on the CIU campus. It streamlines the management of buildings, rooms, and reservations, while also assisting users with checking students in and out. With a comprehensive set of reports, DIS empowers users to analyze past data and plan effectively for future building reservations and related activities.

Decision Support System (DSS)

The Decision Support System(Dss) is a powerful tool designed to assist management in planning and making informed decisions based on comprehensive reports. The system provides access to 180 reports from the CIU database, covering various areas such as course registration, internships, scholarships, exams, dining hall usage, clubs, library activities, and more. Users can select a specific report, and the system will send an email with the report attached as an Excel file, ensuring easy access and efficient decision-making.

Equipment Maintenance System (EMS)

The Equipment Maintenance System (EMS) is designed to assist building managers and unit managers in creating and managing maintenance requests for buildings, whether they involve technical support or other request types. The system includes key features such as a Maintenance Requests List, Building Manager and Unit Manager pages, Unit Technician management, Role Assignment, Reports, and System Configuration. EMS streamlines the maintenance process to ensure efficient request handling and resolution.

SMARTASK

The SMARTASK system is designed to streamline task management processes. It features a Task Management Page for creating and assigning tasks, a Task Overview Page to track progress and status, and export options in Excel and PDF formats. The dashboard includes sections like "Your Assigned Tasks," "Your Upcoming Tasks," and "Your Overdue Tasks" to provide users with an organized view of their responsibilities.

CIU Mobile

Discover the CIU Mobile App designed specifically for Cyprus International University students! Stay connected with features such as real-time chat with advisors, course schedules, exam details, service tracking, announcements and event notifications. The app also offers access to student clubs, academic calendar and contact directory. All in a user-friendly interface and with dark mode support.
