The World Industrial Design Day

Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Nezih Ayıran made statements on the World Industrial Design Day and drew attention to the importance of design in our daily lives.

Prof. Dr. Ayıran mentioned that design has an important place in daily life and professional practices, from ordinary items, devices, tools, and accessories to complex designed transit networks, infrastructure systems, even digital platforms, and applications.

Underlining that the importance in question is sometimes missed in the fast pace that requires dealing with every area and detail of everyday life, Ayıran pointed out that the importance of “design for daily life” has become more evident due to the necessity of people staying at home with the recent COVID-19 outbreak.

It was also stated that people, who stay in their homes due to social isolation, have to live their lives by using all kinds of industrial design products with more active and intensive use of these products at times. With such intense usage, most of the people realize the importance of design for daily life.

It is an acknowledged fact that industrial design products make human life more comfortable and enjoyable, increase work efficiency and safety, and contribute to the development of humanity. Ayıran, as the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture of CIU celebrate the World Industrial Design Day of all industrial product designers and students in the world, stakeholder institutions and people working, supporting and improving the field.
