Students of the CIU First and Emergency Aid Department visit the Ministry of Health Emergency Ambulance Service
First-year students of the Cyprus International University (CIU) Vocational School of Health Sciences, who have just started the First and Emergency Aid Program, visited the TRNC Ministry of Health 112 Emergency Command and Control Center in order to be introduced to and learn about the operation of ambulances.
CIU Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Salih Angın stated that the visit was carried out in order for the students to better understand their profession, to see their future work areas with their own eyes, and to obtain information about the introduction and operation of the ambulance.
Explaining that they were able to make their visit to the TRNC Ministry of Health 112 Emergency Ambulance Service once they obtained the necessary authorizations, Angın went on to say, “It is important for students to be aware of the fact their chosen profession is directly related to the human life, and when it comes to life, they have chosen a profession that competes with time. For this reason, our students were informed in relation to the operation of ambulance services, equipment use, and professional personnel communication”.
Prof. Dr. Angın advised that both the students from the English and Turkish First and Emergency Program attended the event, and advised that within the scope of the pandemic precautions, the students had the opportunity to use the medical equipment located within the ambulance.
Pointing out that the aim of organizing this event was for the students to observe their occupation at the institution it is carried out and by the personnel on duty, and in this way ensure they have understood it, Angın went on to say, “In this way, it was also aimed to develop their own professional ideals”.
Prof. Dr. Angın added that they always train their students with professional ethical awareness as they believe in the importance of the presence of qualified health workers.
