The role of new Generation Education and Teaching was discussed at CIU
CIU Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences organized the event “New Generation Education and the Changing Role of the Teacher”, where Ministry of Education and Culture, Training and Education Board Member Salih Sarpten spoke about the education system and the roles of new generation teachers.
Explaining that some of the occupations that are present today were not available 15 years ago or their names were unknown, Sarpten highlighted that we couldn’t even image what occupations will be available in 15 years’ time.
Noting that the education provided in schools today is not for a defined future with the lines drawn, Sarpten advised that it is for a future that we cannot even describe.
Referring to the Future of Jobs Report prepared by the World Economic Forum in 2018, Sarpten elaborated, "The report determines that 68% of school students today will in the future be doing jobs that do not exist yet today”.
Reminding that the most important factor in the education system is the teacher, Sarpten went on to say, “Even if you made the best course book, the best lesson program, or the best school, everything is only as good as the teachers available”.
Speaking more openly, Sarpten emphasized that the role of the teacher in the system is indispensable and has an importance upon life, and concluded, “For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to understand both the educational structure of the new generation born into technology and the role of the teacher in this structure, and to make plans accordingly”.
