Meeting with industry representatives
Students from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising of Cyprus International University (CIU) carry on their successful projects in Northern Cyprus and share their media plans with companies and industry representatives operating in various fields, and get advice and appreciation as part of the ‘Media Planning Course’.
Creative projects were prepared by the students blending the theoretical and practical knowledge they gained from the course conducted under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Galip E. Erdil who is a faculty member at the CIU Department of Advertising and Public Relations.
It was mentioned by Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdil that students presented their individually prepared projects to the sector representatives, so they had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the leading experts of the sector about their studies.
Stating that the students' preferences for the companies they want to work with are left to their own choices, Erdil said, “We enable them to make the company or product choices they think they can make the best of their media plan experience.”
Consultation with Özerlat Coffee Director İlke Özerlat
Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdil emphasized that it is important for the students' careers to meet with industry representatives, “For example, we brought together our student Vedat Kaya with Özerlat Coffee Director İlke Özerlat, one of the leading coffee producers in the country,” added Erdil.
Erdil said that Vedat Kaya, student of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, presented his project to İlke Özerlat for evaluation and the creative ideas of the project were liked and appreciated by the company director.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdil pointed out that there are many benefits for students to come together with sector representatives, and continued, “Our students have the excitement of being evaluated by the potential employer and they have the chance to put into practice the information they have gained with the project they prepared”.
CIU Advertising and Public Relations students had the chance to have a pleasant time getting information about the production stages of coffee after the presentation.
