It is important to be active during the social isolation experienced due to Covid-19
Cyprus International University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department Chair, Assist. Prof. Dr. Özge Özalp stated that due to COVID-19, the entire world has experienced serious losses of cases, and therefore social isolation is to continue for a while and went on to remind that it is necessary to be active in order to be healthy.
Drawing attention to the importance of social isolation in order to be protected from Covid-19, Özalp also emphasized that being closed at home brings with it many negativities.
Pointing out that one of the best indicators of an active status is the number of steps taken daily, Özalp went on to state, "look at your step count every day, as it is important you do not have a day spent with limited movement”.
Advising that exercise, which is one of the most basic conditions of being healthy, can be performed in any way in any environment, Özalp elaborated, "Exercising will naturally strengthen your immune system, as well as protect your physical structure and condition."

Assist. Prof. Dr. Özalp stated that it is important for everyone who is undergoing this process, working or not, to take time in their daily routine and perform different enjoyable activities, for their health.
Özalp indicated that it is effective for employees to get up and walk around the office environment every hour, or to take short walks from home at certain intervals as much as possible and went on to advise, "In addition, valuable for increasing one’s level of physical activity is climbing and descending stairs and dealing with gardening if a garden is available”.
Prof. Dr. Özge Özalp went on to explain, "Regardless of your physical condition, it is possible to create activities that will allow each person to spend special energy, increase circulation by activating our cardiovascular system, and improve the physical condition by increasing muscle contraction."
Stating that we should continue to remain active and healthy within the indoor environment by paying attention to using masks, social distancing, and hygiene for a while, Özalp concluded, "Remember, walking every day extends your life path."
