On the first day of the event, which was organized online within the scope of the Covid-19 epidemic measures, the CIU Faculty of Engineering, Environmental Engineering Program Coordinator Prof. Dr. Rana Kıdak, gave a presentation on "Environmental Sustainability". During the second day Ergün Bey from the Taşkent Nature Park gave information in relation to "Green Economy" and on the final day, Prof. Dr. Jim Vincent from the Robert Morris University provided information on the subject "General Environmental Issues".

Pointing out that environmental pollution is one of the biggest problems of our times, Prof. Dr. Kıdak stated that seminars such as this are events where solutions are discussed from a sustainability perspective.

Stating that their aim is to raise the awareness of the future generations in relation to this issue, Kıdak emphasized the importance of especially directing young people to this subject as a field of science.

“In order to use the environment in the best was possible, natural and man-made resources should be used in a conscious manner”.
Informing that development means the improvement of human welfare in all 3 dimensions; economic, social and environmental, Prof. Dr. Kıdak went on to say, "Within the scope of sustainable development, natural and man-made resources should be used consciously, not only to ensure the existing basic human needs are met, but also ensuring good living standards for the future generations”.

Emphasizing the mutual relationship between economic progress, environmental management, and individual welfare issues, Kıdak also noted that this process is of a complex nature, affecting both the quality of life and sustainability of the society.

Prof. Dr. Kıdak emphasized that a healthy and balanced ecosystem is no longer sustainable in the world, due to the increase in demand for natural resources, as well as the rapid increases in the global population and industrialization, and added, “Therefore it has become a requirement for a coordinated approach in order to solve environmental problems”.

Stating that the creation of an increasing awareness has begun among engineers who implement, decision-makers, environmentalists, and medical researchers, as well as the general public, Kıdak concluded, “as we have done in our 3-day work here, as CIU we will continue to work and raise awareness again in the future with non-governmental organizations and environmental volunteers”.
