A group of students from the Department of International Relations of Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences paid a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the “field trip” held within the scope of the first year "Introduction to Political Science" course offered by the Chair of the Department of International Relations Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sertaç Sonan, students met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and had the opportunity to ask him questions. Department of International Relations student representative Osman Koroma and International Relations Club President Emmanuel Oni also attended the visit.
During the visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ertuğruloğlu made a presentation to the students on the historical background of the Cyprus problem and gave information about the ministry's representatives and activities abroad.
At the end of the presentation, students had the opportunity to ask Ertuğruloğlu questions about the Cyprus problem, as well as current issues and in a broader sense about international politics.
The group, consisting entirely of foreign students, also conveyed to the Minister the problems they encountered as foreign students in the country and asked questions about the visa applications that have been recently initiated for foreign students.
After the question-answer session, CIU students presented a special Lefkara work with the CIU logo to Minister Ertuğruloğlu in memory of the day. Students also had the chance to take photos with the Minister at the end of the visit.
Sonan said that the visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with 39 students from nearly twenty different countries was very fruitful, and expressed the satisfaction of the International Relations students for having had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu.
