CIU Student Council Representatives Elected
The elections held by the Dean of Students Office of Cyprus International University (CIU) to determine the student representatives for the 2023-2024 Academic Year have been completed.
Student council representative elections, which aim to ensure that students experience and implement the culture of democratic participation within the university, were completed with the appointment of student candidates from CIU Faculties, Schools, English Preparatory School, School of Foreign Languages and Graduate Education and Research Institute.
In addition to the Council Presidency, the Council Executive Board and Supervisory Board Presidency and its members were elected in the student representative elections that aim to give the opportunity to the representatives to participate in the decisions to be taken in all areas of the university and to give the opportunity to transfer student problems and wishes from their source to the university management.
Based on the election results, Çağrı Söğüt is appointed as the Student Council President, Shima Banani as the Vice President, Anthony Okolie as Supervisory Board President, and Supervisory Board members are Sude Avcibasi, Yara Kalam, Ece Dokur and Negin Almasi.
CIU Student Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Osman Emiroğlu stated that the elected candidates will represent the Student Council of the University throughout next year and said, "Our elected student representatives will convey the wishes and needs of the students to the administrations."
Emiroğlu also pointed out that students had the chance throughout the election process to express themselves, show their leadership skills and promote their vision by using their democratic rights, and stated that he has full faith that the students who won the election will contribute to many creative projects during the academic year.
