CIU Started the New Academic Semester with COVID-19 Measures
The Cyprus International University (CIU) started the new academic semester implementing a hybrid education model, completing the necessary studies in line with the criteria set by the Ministry of Health and the CIU Health Science Board, due to the new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic being experienced.
The university decided to follow the hybrid education model this semester, by making the necessary arrangements in terms of the number of students in the classroom, as some students preferred the distance education model while some preferred face-to-face education.
Registration system with a QR code
The university also brought to life the COVID-19 Visitor Registration System, which was put into practice by the Ministry of Health, and as a result, started to accept entrance to campus locations with QR codes instead of using a pen and paper, as well as temperature checking at the building entrances.
Regular disinfection
The university provided information stating that disinfection is done regularly against the virus across the university campus area, for the new type of coronavirus. It was also explained that the student dormitories and public vehicles are disinfected at regular intervals every day.
Non-contact hand disinfectants were placed at all building entrances within the campus area by the CIU Campus Directorate as part of the measures, and informative announcements were made to all staff and students.
At the university, all classes and common areas are disinfected at regular intervals during the day, including frequently used surfaces and equipment that are used commonly, such as door handles, fixtures, washbasins, and toilets. It was informed that education and training continue without interruption despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
