CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Nadiri spoke at a panel titled “The Effect of Sports on Bringing Communities Together”

Cyprus International University Rector, Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri made an opening speech at a panel titled “The Effect of Sports on Bringing Communities Together”.

The panel which was organized by Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMU), saw opening speeches performed by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. Halis Yunus Ersöz, ÇOMU Rector Prof. Dr. Sedat Murat, CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, and Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan.

Speaking within the panel, CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri stated that sports are not just a physical effort, and explained that sports simultaneously have a bringing together and uniting effect.

The event was moderated by ÇOMU Faculty of Sports Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Hürmüz Koç, saw presentations by Gazi University Faculty of Sports Sciences Academic Staff Prof. Dr. Suat Karaküçük, Ankara University Faculty of Sports Sciences Academic Staff, Prof. Dr. Bülent Gürbüz, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Academic Staff Prof. Dr. Mehmet Türkmen, and CIU School of Physical Education and Sports (SPES) Director Prof. Dr. Ali Emre Erol.

During the panel, CIU SPES Director Prof. Dr. Ali Emre Erol shared his views and information in relation to the ‘Social function of sports in Turkey and the TRNC’ while concluding that due to its geographical and climatic conditions, the TRNC can be an important center of attraction for water sports.
