CIU examined the new concepts that entered our lives due to the Covid-19 Pandemic
Within the scope of the Libraries Week activities, Cyprus International University (CIU) organized the event titled “What the COVID-19 Pandemic Took from the Academicians”.
During the event that was organized online within the scope of the corona virus epidemic measures, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration Academic Staff Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sağsan made a speech.
Explaining the concept of "INFODEMY", which entered literature along with the COVID-19 pandemic, Sağsan additionally highlighted the neologies used in the three basic areas of knowledge management, information management and librarianship.
Prof. Dr. Sağsan stated along with the COVID-19 pandemic, neologies such as information obesity, information overload, information anxiety, disinformation, incorrect information, bibliophile, bibliomania, bibliophobia and sapiosexual have come to the fore once again, underlining that often in literature they can be confused with one another.
Pointing out that along with 2021, these three basic areas have developed in terms of information and knowledge, renewed and changed, Sağsan went on to explain the new trends emerging in all three of these areas.
During the event, answering the questions posed by both the academicians and librarians in relation to the new concepts, Prof. Dr. Sağsan gave examples of what these concepts could alter in the future.
