The CIU Department of Architecture organizes events within the scope of “World Architecture Day”

Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture (FADA), Department of Architecture, within the scope of World Architecture Day, organizes the ‘Arch-Ex 2021’ Student Projects Exhibition, and a seminar titled ‘The Unspoken within Architecture’.

CIU FADA Vice Dean and Department of Architecture Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara, stating that the events have been organized in order to raise awareness among the TRNC community and the students in relation to the architecture occupation, went on to say, “Architecture is a field that must work together with a number of other disciplines. It is a lifestyle that differentiates itself from other disciplines due to its accumulation of artistic, engineering, and social knowledge”.

Atakara explained that each year World Architecture Day is celebrated on the first Monday of the month of October, and due to this, it has been decided for the opening of the exhibition to be made on 4th October, with the opening time of 18:00.

Highlighting the fact that the exhibition is being organized by the CIU Department of Architecture, who is raising future architects, Atakara continued, “At the exhibition that is being organized at the İsmet Vehit Güney Exhibition Room, graduation projects that the Architecture Department students made with their instructors during the pandemic period, as well as projects that students entered into competitions and received rankings for, will also be exhibited”.

Advising that within the scope of the activities, “The Unspoken within Architecture” seminar will take place on 5th October, Atakara informed that Prof. Dr. Fatih Rıfkı will attend as a speaker, online from America.
