CIU Achieves Global Excellence in UI GreenMetrics

Cyprus International University (CIU) has ranked 55th in the world, 22nd in Europe, 3rd in Turkey, and 1st in Cyprus in the UI GreenMetrics ranking. This ranking evaluates universities in terms of sustainability, aiming to highlight sustainability in higher education at a global level. It focuses on raising awareness about climate change, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste recycling, and green transportation. The UI GreenMetrics ranking was established in 2010.

In 2018, CIU became the first university in Northern Cyprus to enter the UI GreenMetrics World University Ranking. Last year, it was ranked 64th, and this year, it further improved its position to become the 55th most sustainable university in the world.

Known for its environmentally friendly projects and sustainable approach, CIU not only maintained its title as the most sustainable university in Cyprus but also ranked 22nd in Europe, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability on campus.

CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi stated, "Our goal is to guide students on sustainability, encourage learning by doing, and make our campus greener and more energy-efficient."
