Applications now open for the CIU Pedagogical Formation Training Certificate Program

Cyprus International University (CIU) Pedagogical Formation Training Certificate Program is open for applications for the 2020-2021 Academic Year Fall semester.

Faculty of Education, Head of the Department of Educational Sciences Prof. Dr. Fatoş Silman gave information about the Pedagogical Formation Training Certificate program and expressed that the TRNC citizen graduates and prospective graduates of the 2020-2021 academic year planning to work in the TRNC, can apply to the program.

Pointing out that a student should take a total of 10 courses as part of the program; Silman stated that students will learn how to prepare teaching materials and exams in courses, how to provide guidance services to students, how to deliver effective lectures, and how to use effective classroom management techniques.

Prof. Dr. Silman expressed that with the “Teaching Practice” course in the program, prospective teachers will have the chance to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the school environment.

It was highlighted that the prospective students should graduate from 4-year bachelor programs not affiliated to the Faculty of Education, and that only TRNC citizen students can apply to the program.

The courses in the programs are structured with a student-centered approach, concentrating on the importance of educating prospective teachers as individuals, who can access information, question, and research, think analytically, solve problems and transfer this understanding to their students in the future.

According to the information given by the CIU Public Relations and Corporate Communications Directorate, it was stated that the price change, unlike all other programs, was not made in the Pedagogical Formation Training Certificate Program, within the scope of the economic measures taken due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
