Application for Registration of the Ph.D. Program in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Started

A doctoral program in physiotherapy and rehabilitation was opened within the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at Cyprus International University (CIU).

Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at CIU, Assist. Prof. Dr. Özge Özalp stated that they started to accept applications for the 2019-2020 Spring Semester and they aim to train scientists, who are competent, well-equipped with research skills, contribute to scientific education and training, and follow professional ethics and values.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Özalp also noted that the medium of instruction is Turkish and added that courses such as the Architecture of the Tissue Based Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Motor Control of Movement and Sensorimotor Integration, Microgravity and Movement, Men's and Women's Health Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Exercise Testing and Training, Cardiopulmonary Pathophysiology and Rehabilitation, Pediatric Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Applications in Sports Injury Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Neuromuscular Disorders, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Health Tourism are offered within the program.

Özalp also gave information about career opportunities for students, who graduated from the doctoral program by stating that graduates can take positions especially as academic staff in universities.

In addition to an academic career, program graduates can also work in public or private sector institutions with inpatient treatment, rehabilitation centers, outpatient diagnostic and treatment centers, centers that provide training and consulting services, home care services, elderly care and rehabilitation centers for children and disabled individuals, sports centers carrying out health projects in areas such as civil society organizations.
