Agricultural Sciences Students attended the EU Project Event
Students from the CIU Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Participated in the Event organized on “Processing of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants"
Students of Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies attended the Seminar and Field Day organized within the framework of the European Union Agricultural Consultancy Services Project and held within the scope of the Research and Demonstration Pilot Program on "Processing of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants."
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Erayman, dean of CIU Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies pointed out that as an institution of learning they attach importance to the participation of their students in activities like technical trips or field observations, and said, "In such activities, our students have the opportunity to observe and review the information they learn in classes."
Stating that the seminar was given by EU coordinators and experts, Erayman said, "In the seminar, our students were informed about what medicinal and aromatic plants are as well as where and how these plants are used."
Assist. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Ok, a lecturer in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, also attended the event and pointed out that a workshop was organized after the seminar and said, "In this way, our students had the chance to receive practical training on extracting essential oils from medicinal aromatic plants for making perfume."
Reminding that the event also focused on identifying some medicinal and aromatic plants in the Cyprus flora, Hüseyin Ok added that following the workshop, the students had the opportunity to visit the lavender production areas in the Yenierenköy region.
