2023-2024 Academic Year Fall Term Graduates receive their diplomas
There was great excitement and joy at Cyprus International University (CIU) 2023-2024 Academic Year Fall Semester Graduation ceremony where 800 students graduating from associate, undergraduate and graduate programs received their diplomas.
The ceremony was held in the conference hall of CIU Çevik Uraz Center. CIU Administrative team, Faculty Deans, Institute and School Directors, faculty members as well as families of graduating students attended the ceremony.
The opening speeches on behalf of the graduating class were delivered by Filiz Güdan, from the Faculty of Education, Department of Special Education Teaching and Ahmed Rahmani, from the Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising. They delivered their speeches in Turkish and English.
CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri in his speech said that at the end of the Fall Semester of the 2023-2024 Academic Year, 800 students from 56 different countries and thus the total number of CIU graduates has exceeded twenty-five thousand and expressed their pride in seeing students fulfill their academic goals.
Nadiri stated that investments are important in achieving success in higher education. “The laboratory facilities that we are constantly trying to improve and the well-established research centers provide qualified and increasing number of services to both our students and academics and thus provide opportunities to conduct scientific research.”
Nadiri also added that as an institution they have been working on environmental awareness and sustainability which are becoming increasingly important day by day. He also mentioned that they ranked 69th among the top hundred in the Green Metrics World University rankings in 2023.
Congratulating the graduating students in his speech, Nadiri said, "The education you received at CIU have equipped you with the necessary knowledge you will be needing in your career and professional lives. You all have the potential and ability to achieve your goals. Wish you success on this long journey you are about to embark on.”
The ceremony continued with the delivering of diplomas after the opening speeches. On day 1 and in Session 1, graduates of Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture received their diplomas while in Session 2 Faculty of Engineering, School of Applied Sciences, and Vocational School graduates were granted their diplomas.
On Day 2, Session 1, students graduating from the Faculties of Pharmacy, Health Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences and Technologies; and Schools of Health Sciences, Health Sciences Vocational School were granted their diplomas.
In Session 2 that took place in the afternoon, diplomas to students graduating from Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Communication; and from School of Physical Education and Sports, School of Tourism and Hotel Management, and Vocational School of Justice were granted.
The ceremony that was broadcast live on the official YouTube Channel of the University and ended with the traditional cap throwing ceremony and photo shoots.
