Faculty of Medicine
About
Medical education is based on an integrated system in which the topics are examined through a multidisciplinary approach in the course based on interrelated systems. Periods I, II and III constitute of the preclinical part of medical education. The basic sciences in the 1st year, the normal biological functioning of the human organism in the 2nd year and the basic microbiology, the psychopathological and pathological foundations of the system diseases in the 3rd year, and clinical features and treatments are taught through a multidisciplinary approach. Within the scope of education collaboration, the 4th, 5th and 6th years of medical education will be completed at Başkent University, Adana- Turgut Noyan Application and Research Center. Medical education in the 4th and the 5th years involve a combination of courses and internships. In addition to theoretical lectures, the program also consists of in-patient training, clinical visits, patient preparation, outpatient clinic visits, and observation in the operating room, seminars and article hours, and joint meetings between clinics. The 6th year is the time for internships. The courses and internships cover not only global knowledge and skills, but also principles of preventive medicine and local needs. Students take an active role and responsibility in all clinical studies under the supervision of their responsible faculty member. In this last step towards medical practice, the students will learn to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.

PROGRAM RECOGNITION
The ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) Sponsor Note is a significant milestone for our institution and a major advantage for our students, particularly those aspiring to pursue medical careers in Canada and the USA. Here’s why this is important:
1. Eligibility for ECFMG Certification: With this Sponsor Note, our medical graduates are now eligible to apply for ECFMG certification, a crucial step for those wishing to practice medicine in the USA.
2. Pathway to Residency and Practice: ECFMG certification is a prerequisite for taking the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and for entering residency programs in the USA. This certification also facilitates the process for obtaining a license to practice medicine in Canada.
3. Enhanced Recognition and Opportunities: Being listed with an ECFMG Sponsor Note on WDOMS enhances the international recognition of our medical degrees, opening doors to numerous opportunities for further training and employment in North America.
4. Competitive Edge: This recognition provides our graduates with a competitive edge in the highly sought-after residency and fellowship positions in North America, making you more attractive to prestigious programs and institutions.
